SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV)-
Some Sioux City students are getting ready for adventure by discovering a whole new world page by page and on the stage.
The Sioux City Community Theater and KTIV are putting the spotlight on Literacy.
Today, I read the Hans Christian Anderson classic "The Little Mermaid" to students at Crescent Park and Lincoln Elementary schools in Sioux City.
Thanks to generous sponsors... all of the kids get a free copy of the book to take home.
And, one little girl is thrilled to get to see this book turn to life.
"I think that's fun because I think that's a good idea because you read the book and then you go see the play," says Megan Juhnke, Lincoln Elementary 4th grader.
Next week after the kids have read the book they'll be taken to the Sioux City Community Theater to see "The Little Mermaid" performance live on stage.
