Amtrak has canceled several trains Monday on its Chicago hub service due to forecasted inclement weather.
Bitter cold, gusty winds and blowing snow are forecast for areas along several Chicago hub routes.
The cancellations affect two trains running between Quincy and Chicago. The 6:12 a.m. train from Quincy to Chicago will run, but the 5:30 p.m. train from Quincy to Chicago has been canceled. The 7:30 a.m. train from Chicago to Quincy will run, but the 5:55 p.m. train from Chicago to Quincy has been canceled.
The temporary route reductions aim to maintain service on all routes while reducing exposure of Amtrak passengers, crews and rail equipment to extreme weather conditions forecast, according to Amtrak.
