Nathan Hopper

Nathan joined the Storm Track 12 Weather Team in June of 2016 and he’s excited to call the beautiful Southern Tier his new home. A native of Colorado, the rolling terrain of the Twin Tiers reminds him a lot of Colorado.

Nathan graduated in May of 2016 with his Bachelors of Science in Meteorology with a minor in Communication from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. While at Valpo, Nathan helped re-found the Indiana Iota chapter of Phi Delta Theta, and participated in almost too many student organizations.

Nathan held two weather-related internships during his tenure at Valparaiso University that he has gained incredible skills from. During the Summer of 2015, Nathan interned with Chief Morning Meteorologist Stephen Bowers at KOAA News 5 in Colorado Springs/Pueblo, Colorado. Then, during the second semester of his senior year, Nathan was fortunate enough to intern with Tom Skilling at WGN-TV in Chicago.

With Nathan hailing from Colorado, he’s loyal to the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies, though he may occasionally root for the Chicago Cubs every now and then. When it comes to hockey, you can find Nathan sporting his Chicago Blackhawks gear as he watches as many games as he can. Basketball brings Nathan right back to his college days as he roots for Valpo Basketball through and through.

When Nathan isn’t forecasting for the Twin Tiers, you can find him wondering what to eat for lunch or hanging out in a coffee shop somewhere around Binghamton. He also loves spending time in the great outdoors hiking and watching/playing sports.
